It is a traditional Anatolian handwoven “Yoruk Bag”, “Nomad Bag”
You will notice that the plain back side of this old and interesting traditional sack is dirty in a wavy pattern. This is most likely due to the sweat of the animal (such as camel, horse, mule and donkey) that carried this artistic sack and also due to its use over the years. It may have been used by yoruks/nomads to carry and store their loads. It may have been made as a dowry bag in the first stage.
The warp and weft of the back section are cotton. The front patterned and motif areas are embroidered with hand-spun wool yarns, mostly with the Jejim technique and in some areas with the Zili technique, which is close to the jejim technique.
